In SolidWorks, selecting a part in the graphics window typically expands the corresponding subassembly in the FeatureManager and highlights the part automatically. This behavior makes it much easier to navigate and manage complex assemblies.

Sometimes, however, this link between the main window and the FeatureManager can stop working. Even with the FeatureManager > “Scroll selected item into view” option enabled, the expected expansion and selection may no longer occur.

Steps to take

1. Resetting settings

As per default we would say reset your Solidworks settings and try this, if this solves the problem we know for sure that this is settings related

2. Deleting Registery Entry

Make a backup of your settings before attempting to change something!

delete the following key, make sure to keep in mind what Solidworks version you are running, in our Example we use Solidworks

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SolidWorks\SOLIDWORKS 2023\General\AsmDocBrowserViewType

now restart Solidworks and the ‘Scroll selected item into view’ should function as expected
